FRANK ASCHINGER SUCCUMBS TO MALADY CONTRACTED WHILE IN SERVICE
Frank M. Aschinger was born here on Jan. 15, 1888, and grew to manhood in this vicinity. On May 18th, 1918, he enlisted in the Great World War and was sent across in August 1918 in the 48th Engineers returning June 1919 receiving a disability discharge on Aug. 20, 1919. In Feb. 1920 he entered the Resthaven Hospital being transferred later to the National Home Hospital at Milwaukee where he died on Oct. 8, 1924, due to a complication of diseases.
On November 22, 1922, he was married to Miss Edna Caryl (Carroll) of Waukesha who, together with his mother, two brothers, Louis and Harry, and four sisters, Mrs. Fred Kersten, Mrs. Paul Sabrowsky, Mrs. Herman Miller and Miss Mildred survive him besides a host of other relatives and countless friends.
Frank was of a rather quiet disposition caused no doubt by his illness, but a friendship once formed could never be broken and he will be sorely missed by not only his relatives but by the friends he had formed. The funeral was held Sunday October 12th, at the Split Rock Lutheran church, Rev. Wagner officiating, with interment in the Tigerton Cemetery, Rev. Wegner gave a very nice sermon which was greatly appreciated by all. The pallbearers were John Mader, Wm. Way, Fred Kersten, F. Y. King, Wm. Grentz and Arthur Heins, members of the Modern Woodmen of which Mr. Aschinger was a member. The flower girls were Hertha Krenke, Esther Kersten, Lillian Schmitter, Brotha Smith, Sylvia Lundt and Alice Kersten.
The Legion Boys marched from the house to the church, and at the grave fired a salute and sounded Tapps...
The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved relatives and friends. - Split Rock Cor.
