Kenneth was our radio man in the 1st Platoon Hotel company 2/5 we where good friends, I was the squad leader in 2nd Squad 1st Platoon. We where on Liberty Road on a sweep to Phu Lock Base Camp. The road was 5 miles long and it was Monsoon weather; the road was mud up to your knees. As we left An Hoa I let Kenneth use my flak jacket, it had pockets where i kept my Maps. About three miles into the patrol a Marine on the right flank tripped a Booby Trap. Kenneth started off the road toward the area to call in a medivac. He hit a 40 pound Box Mine. What was left of him, I put into the chopper we had 7 marines wounded or killed that day.
