Hero Story
Bernard Joseph "BJ" Dietz, 63, of Butler, formerly of Turtle Creek, passed away peacefully about 3:30 p.m. Monday at his home of ongoing medical problems.
Born June 28, 1951, in Wilkinsburg, he was the son of the late Fred and Marion E. Dietz.
BJ grew up in Turtle Creek with his parents and siblings. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, reading, being involved in his community, and bringing a little joy to his friends and family.
He volunteered quite a bit over the years for places like the Salvation Army and Cliffside Apartments, and as a paramedic in Turtle Creek. A retired coreman of the U.S. Navy and a veteran of our country, he was compassionate, intelligent, reliable, welcoming, sincere, an all-around sweet, lovable man with a passion for making people laugh.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kimberly Lee Dietz; two children, Brian Joseph Dietz and James Robert Dietz; three grandchildren, Carlee Jean Dietz, Levi Clay Dietz and Vaylon Wesley Black; and four siblings, Lawrence William (Skip) Dietz, Madeleine Anne Smith, Mary Ann Seddon and Maureen Anne Dietz.
Dietz- The family of Bernard Joseph "BJ" Dietz, who passed away Monday, July 21, 2014, would like to invite friends to honor and share memories of BJ from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.
